DEA Raids Colorado Medical Marijuana Testing Lab
DEA agents raided a Colorado Medical Marijuana testing laboratory while the owner was at the capital for a hearing on the proposed medical marijuana regulations.
The medical marijuana testing lab Full Spectrum Laboratories was presented with a DEA subpoena requesting all customer and patient records over a six month time period.
The DEA didn't formally charge the the lab with any crimes but seized (stole) about $10,000 worth of medical marijuana. The seized marijuana included a rare strain that was being made into capsules for Parkinsons and multiple sclerosis patients.
The president of the lab Bob Winnicki had applied for a DEA license to dispense controlled substances.
"I was operating under the assumtion that if we're playing by the rules, no problem," he said.
Full spectrum laboratories is the only lab of its kind Colorado that tests medical marijuana for mold, fungus and pesticides as well as the potency and effectiveness of different strains in treating various ailments.
The lab is scheduled to assist in testing potency at the western slope cannabis crown coming up in April.
